BP removes Chairman Albert Manifold in surprise move

May 26 (Reuters) – BP (BP.L), opens new tab ​said on Tuesday it had ‌removed Chairman Albert Manifold with immediate ​effect, citing “unacceptable” ​governance oversight and conduct ⁠issues.
Manifold was ​appointed to the role ​in October, although he received lower-than-typical support. He ​has been ​pushing for a faster shift ‌back ⁠to oil and gas investments.
The energy major said ​it ​had ⁠appointed Ian Tyler as interim ​chair while ​it ⁠starts searching for a permanent ⁠replacement.
