{"id":1653,"date":"2026-06-11T11:39:37","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T11:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=1653"},"modified":"2026-06-11T11:39:37","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T11:39:37","slug":"indian-crewed-tanker-hit-off-oman-in-suspected-third-us-strike-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=1653","title":{"rendered":"Indian-crewed tanker hit off Oman in suspected third US strike this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>LONDON\/NEW DELHI, June 11 (Reuters) &#8211; India&#8217;s shipping ministry said all 20 Indian crew members were safe after a suspected U.S. strike on the asphalt tanker Jalveer off Oman \u200bon Thursday following two similar strikes involving Indian crews in the \u200cregion this week.<\/div>\n<div>Three Indian sailors died in a U.S. strike on the Settebello tanker off Oman a day earlier.<\/div>\n<div>The Guinea-Bissau flagged Jalveer sent a distress call while off Oman&#8217;s port of Shinas \u200bafter a fire broke out around its engine room and funnel, British \u200bmaritime risk management company Vanguard said.<\/div>\n<div>An Indian shipping ministry official said \u2060the crew were being evacuated in coordination with the Royal Navy of Oman.<\/div>\n<div>The \u200bship was attacked by the U.S. Navy, Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal \u200btold reporters.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;The cause of the fire has not been disclosed; however, &#8230;this was likely the result of U.S. operations to blockade Iranian ports,&#8221; British maritime security company Ambrey said.<\/div>\n<div>U.S. Central Command was not \u200bavailable for immediate comment on the incident.<\/div>\n<div>If confirmed, it would be the third \u200bIndian-crewed tanker hit by U.S. forces this week after the Marivex oil tanker was disabled using \u200cprecision munitions \u2060on Monday.<\/div>\n<div>The U.S. began a blockade of Iran-related shipping on April 13 after Iran severely curtailed shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil and gas route.<\/div>\n<div>U.S. Centcom said the Marivex and Settebello failed to follow directions as \u200bU.S. forces enforced the \u200bblockade.<\/div>\n<div>Centcom said on \u2060Wednesday U.S. forces enforcing the blockade had disabled eight non-compliant vessels, redirected 134 others, and allowed 42 vessels supporting humanitarian \u200baid to pass since the blockade began.<\/div>\n<div>Ships being targeted include \u200bIranian vessels \u2060as well as others carrying Iranian cargoes, including so-called shadow fleet tankers, which are typically older vessels without Western insurance used to transport sanctioned oil and sailing under \u2060the flags \u200bof various nations to obscure their true ownership, \u200bcargo and movements.<\/div>\n<div>The Marivex was the only one of the three tankers under U.S. sanctions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=1652\">Forget the DOJ.
