KAMPALA, May 25 (Reuters) – Uganda has detected two more \u200cconfirmed cases of Ebola, its health ministry said on Monday, bringing the total number of cases reported \u200bin the country to seven.<\/div>\n
The two \u200bnew cases are health workers in a \u2060private health facility in the capital Kampala \u200band both are Ugandans, the ministry said \u200bin a statement.<\/div>\n
“Both patients have been admitted to the designated treatment unit and are now receiving care,” \u200bthe ministry said, adding that response teams \u200bwere tracing all those who had been in contact \u200cwith \u2060the two people.<\/div>\n
Ugandan authorities confirmed three new Ebola cases on Saturday.<\/div>\n
The epicentre of the outbreak is in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo’s \u200bIturi province, \u200bwhich borders \u2060Uganda.<\/div>\n
The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo \u200bstrain of Ebola a public health \u200bemergency \u2060of international concern.<\/div>\n
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Sunday that there had been \u2060more \u200bthan 900 suspected cases in \u200bthe outbreak so far, including 101 confirmed cases.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
