May 25 (Reuters) – The U.S. and Iran are \u200cdiscussing a plan to open the Strait of Hormuz about 30 \u200bdays after the two \u200bcountries reach a deal to \u2060end hostilities, the Nikkei \u200bnewspaper reported on Monday citing a \u200bMiddle East diplomatic source.<\/div>\n
Iran would proceed to clear mines from the \u200bstrait during a 30-day window \u200bfollowing an agreement, after which ships \u200cfrom \u2060all countries would be able to navigate freely and safely, and Iran would stop collecting \u200btransit \u200bfees, Nikkei \u2060said.<\/div>\n
The ceasefire agreed in early April would \u200bbe extended for 60 \u200bdays, \u2060with the plan to hold talks on Iran’s nuclear program \u2060during \u200bthe two-month pause, \u200bthe report added.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
