{"id":2426,"date":"2026-06-19T19:41:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T19:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=2426"},"modified":"2026-06-19T19:41:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T19:41:06","slug":"abu-dhabis-mgx-weighs-multi-billion-deal-for-data-center-operator-dayone-sources-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=2426","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi&#8217;s MGX weighs multi-billion deal for data center operator DayOne, sources say"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><div><div><ul><li>Summary<\/li><li>Companies<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div><\/div><\/div><div>LONDON\/DUBAI\/HONG KONG, June 19  (Reuters) &#8211; Abu Dhabi-backed artificial intelligence investor MGX has been exploring buying Singapore-based data \u200ccentre operator DayOne, three sources said, in what would mark a major step in its global expansion into the technology.<\/div><div>MGX has been working with an investment bank in preparation for the potential transaction, said two of the sources, who declined to \u200bbe identified because the discussions are confidential.<\/div><div>DayOne has been planning a U.S. initial public offering \u200btargeting a valuation of $20 billion, Reuters has reported, a price that MGX may \u2060not be willing to match, two of the sources said.<\/div><div>The sources cautioned that a deal may not proceed \u200band that the firm may still opt to pursue an IPO.<\/div><div>A spokesperson for MGX declined to comment.<\/div><div>DayOne \u200bdidn&#8217;t immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/div><div>DayOne, which is affiliated with China&#8217;s GDS Holdings (9698.HK)<svg><\/svg><span>, opens new tab<\/span>, operates and develops data centres across Southeast Asia as well as in Hong Kong, Japan and Finland. Reuters reported last month that it was considering a \u200bdual initial public offering in Singapore and the U.S., though the Singapore plans are not concrete \u200bat this stage.<\/div><div>DayOne has secured investments from U.S. investor Coatue Management, SoftBank Vision Fund and Citadel Securities founder Ken Griffin.<\/div><h2>EASTWARD EXPANSION<\/h2><div>A \u200cdeal for \u2060DayOne could mark MGX&#8217;s first acquisition in Asia as the company pursues a lightning-fast international expansion.
