June 22 (Reuters) – Elon Musk’s SpaceX (SPCX.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> launched its first-ever notes offering on Monday and said it had \u200babout $100.8 billion in cash and cash equivalents as \u200cof June 19, days after its blockbuster U.S. stock market IPO.<\/div>\n
The rockets-to-AI company debuted on the Nasdaq on June 12 after raising $85.7 billion \u200bfrom its initial public offering, making it one \u200bof the world’s most valuable firms.<\/div>\n
SpaceX has increased spending \u2060on AI infrastructure and the development of its next-generation \u200bStarship rocket, investments that have weighed on profitability despite strong \u200bgrowth at its Starlink satellite internet business.<\/div>\n
Its revenue rose 33% to $18.67 billion last year, though the company reported a net loss after heavy spending and \u200bthe integration of Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI.<\/div>\n
SpaceX shares \u200bfell about 7% in early trading.<\/div>\n
The company did not disclose the size or \u200cpricing \u2060terms of the proposed notes. The proceeds would be used to repay borrowings under its bridge loan facility, cover related fees and expenses as well as for general corporate \u200bpurposes, it \u200bsaid.<\/div>\n
SpaceX held $15.9 billion \u2060in cash and cash equivalents at the end of March, according to its IPO \u200bfiling.<\/div>\n
Credit ratings agencies assigned the company investment-grade ratings last \u200bweek, \u2060signaling confidence in SpaceX’s financial stability as it moves forward with costly AI plans.<\/div>\n
Moody’s issued a “Baa1” and Fitch a “BBB+” rating, \u2060indicating \u200bthat SpaceX’s debt is considered investment-grade \u200band carries moderate credit risk, with sufficient capacity to meet its financial commitments.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
