HOUSTON, June 29 (Reuters) – Stocks of \u200bcrude oil in the U.S. \u200cStrategic Petroleum Reserve fell by 5.5 million barrels to 325.7 million barrels, \u200bthe lowest level since May \u200b1983, according to data from the \u2060Department of Energy.<\/div>\n
The drawdowns are \u200ba part of a U.S. \u200bagreement to release 172 million barrels from the facility to plug a gap in \u200bglobal inventories after the Iran \u200bwar and help push down fuel prices.<\/div>\n
U.S. \u200ccrude \u2060stocks have rapidly declined in recent weeks due to strong export and refining demand for American \u200boil.<\/div>\n
Since the \u200bwar began \u2060at the end of February, overall U.S. inventories, \u200bincluding commercial and SPR stocks, \u200bhave \u2060fallen by 111.4 million barrels to 743.3 million barrels as of \u2060June \u200b19, the lowest \u200bsince 1984.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
