{"id":3469,"date":"2026-07-01T21:42:05","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T21:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=3469"},"modified":"2026-07-01T21:42:05","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T21:42:05","slug":"rebel-catholic-group-ordains-bishops-in-switzerland-defying-pope-leo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=3469","title":{"rendered":"Rebel Catholic group ordains bishops in Switzerland, defying Pope Leo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>ZURICH, July 1 (Reuters) &#8211; Four new bishops from a breakaway Catholic group dedicated to the old Latin mass were ordained in southwestern Switzerland on \u200bWednesday, in defiance of an appeal by Pope Leo XIV.<\/div>\n<div>Thousands \u200cturned out to watch the ordination of the bishops from the Society of St. Pius X in the tiny Alpine hamlet of \u00c9c\u00f4ne, two days after \u200ba personal plea from the Pontiff.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;I plead with you and \u200bask you with all my heart: please turn back!,&#8221; Leo \u2060wrote in a letter on Monday to Davide Pagliarani, Superior General \u200bof the Society, urging the group not to undertake what he \u200bdescribed as a &#8220;schismatic act.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div>Only the pope may authorize the consecration of new bishops, so as to maintain the Church&#8217;s ties to Jesus&#8217; 12 apostles, who are regarded \u200bas the first priests and bishops.<\/div>\n<div>The Vatican has warned the ordination, which \u200bwas broadcast on social media, would incur excommunication.
