WASHINGTON, May 29 (Reuters) – The U.S. Postal \u200cService would require states to provide a list of voters who received \u200bmailed ballots as part of \u200bnew rules proposed on Friday, \u2060one day after a federal \u200bjudge declined to immediately block President Donald \u200bTrump’s related executive order.<\/div>\n
The USPS proposal, published in a Federal Register notice, \u200bwould require states to give \u200bthe USPS the names along with the \u200cbarcodes \u2060tied to their mail-in ballot for federal elections. The public has 30 days to comment on \u200bthe plan \u200bbefore \u2060the Trump administration can finalize it.<\/div>\n
On Thursday, Washington-based \u200bU.S. District Judge Carl Nichols \u200bdeclined \u2060to block Trump’s March 31 order on mail-in ballots but \u2060did \u200bnot say whether it \u200bwas lawful.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
