{"id":547,"date":"2026-05-31T06:38:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T06:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=547"},"modified":"2026-05-31T06:38:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T06:38:46","slug":"softbank-to-build-up-ai-data-centres-in-france-with-major-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=547","title":{"rendered":"SoftBank to build up AI data centres in France with major investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>PARIS, May 30 (Reuters) &#8211; Japan&#8217;s SoftBank Group (9984.T)<svg><\/svg><span>, opens new tab<\/span> will invest \u20ac45 billion over the next five years \u200bin a push to build up artificial intelligence infrastructure \u200cin France, the company announced on Saturday.<\/div>\n<div>SoftBank said the investment, described as the biggest of its kind so far in Europe, would be made \u200bin the northern Hauts-de-France region and deliver 3.1 GW of \u200bcapacity.<\/div>\n<div>The investment plans are due to be formally announced \u2060on Monday at the annual Choose France business conference.<\/div>\n<div>French \u200bengineering company Schneider Electric (SCHN.PA)<svg><\/svg><span>, opens new tab<\/span> said it would be one of the project&#8217;s \u200bkey partners and equip the sites with its modules without disclosing financials.<\/div>\n<div>Three sites, including one in Dunkirk, are expected to come into operation by 2031.<\/div>\n<div>Additional \u200bsites spread across France are planned further down the road, \u200bSoftBank said, pushing the overall planned investment sum to \u20ac75 billion.<\/div>\n<div>&#8220;The fact that \u200cthe \u2060country is a producer and exporter of energy is absolutely decisive for investments in AI infrastructure,&#8221; SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son told the paper La Tribune du Dimanche.<\/div>\n<div>State-owned nuclear energy giant EDF is \u200balso part of \u200bthe deal, \u2060handing one of its former power plants over to SoftBank to transform the site into a \u200bdata centre.<\/div>\n<div>The French commitment adds to a global \u200bAI \u2060infrastructure spending spree by SoftBank.
