TAIPEI, June 2 (Reuters) – Nvidia (NVDA.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> CEO Jensen Huang said on Tuesday the company has enough supply to \u200baccommodate robust growth in central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) as it \u200crides an AI boom.<\/div>
The company, considered a barometer for the AI market’s health as its semiconductors are used in virtually every major data center in the world, acknowledged, however, that supply constraints remain a \u200bconcern.<\/div>
“We’ve secured supply for very robust growth of all of those systems,” Huang \u200bsaid at an Nvidia press conference during the Computex week in Taipei.<\/div>
“We \u2060have supply for very, very robust growth, but we’re still supply constrained.”<\/div>
Huang was speaking \u200ba day after the $5 trillion chip company unveiled a new chip that brings AI capabilities directly \u200bto personal computers.<\/div>
Nvidia’s new chip, which will be launched in the fall, would pit it against the likes of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span>, Intel (INTC.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> and Apple (AAPL.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span>.<\/div>
Huang said the RTX Spark PC chip is part of Nvidia’s \u200befforts with Microsoft (MSFT.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> to “reinvent the PC” for the AI era.<\/div>
Born in Taiwan’s southern city \u200bof Tainan, the Nvidia chief announced plans last week to invest around $150 billion a year in Taiwan, describing \u200cit as \u2060the epicentre of the AI revolution.<\/div>
At the press conference on Tuesday, Huang said Taiwan is a strategic partner for the U.S. because the island is investing in U.S. manufacturing. The company plans to continue to invest in Taiwan and make the supply chain as resilient \u200bas possible.<\/div>
“We are \u200bthe largest purchaser of \u2060any company now for the ecosystem of Taiwan,” he said.<\/div>
Demand for Nvidia AI chips, or GPUs, has generated tens of billions of \u200bdollars of revenue and helped make the company the most valuable \u200bin the \u2060world.<\/div>
Huang said the company’s Vera data center CPUs would be even more popular than its GPUs because of the CPUs’ crucial role in crunching information.<\/div>
Vera competes with data center \u2060chips made \u200bby AMD and Intel.<\/div>
“This (Vera CPU) is going to be \u200bour new major growth driver,” Huang said during a presentation on Monday outlining Nvidia’s latest AI products.<\/div>
