A ceasefire \u200bhas largely held since early April, though Iran and the U.S. have exchanged strikes several times over the past week.<\/div>\n<div>Oil prices fell more than \u200b1% on Tuesday, paring the previous day&#8217;s sharp gains, though a senior International Energy Agency official warned that global oil inventories could hit historically low levels.<\/div>\n<h2>ISRAEL KEEPS UP STRIKES IN LEBANON<\/h2>\n<div>The war that began on February 28 has killed thousands of people, mainly in Iran and Lebanon. It has caused global economic pain by pushing up \u200benergy prices since Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, which previously carried about a fifth of global supplies of oil and liquefied \u200bnatural gas.<\/div>\n<div>It also triggered the latest round of conflict between Israel and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, with Israel pursuing its deepest incursion into Lebanon in 25 years.<\/div>\n<div>On \u200cTuesday, Israel \u2060kept up strikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanese security sources said, a day after U.S. mediation appeared to have averted any further escalation of that war.<\/div>\n<div>A partial ceasefire announced by Lebanon on Monday would entail Israel refraining from strikes on Beirut and Hezbollah-controlled suburbs of the Lebanese capital, while the Iran-aligned group would halt its attacks on Israel.<\/div>\n<div>Lebanon said it would seek to expand the ceasefire in talks with Israel in Washington on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div>Israeli \u200bPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing criticism \u200bdomestically over any agreement to \u2060hold back from further attacks on Beirut, ahead of an election later this year that he is projected to lose.<\/div>\n<h2>IRAN PUSHES FOR LIMITED DEAL<\/h2>\n<div>In the wider war, Iran is pushing for a limited interim agreement as it \u200btries to ease mounting economic pressure while avoiding major concessions on its nuclear programme, according to Iranian sources.<\/div>\n<div>As \u200bpart of any \u2060deal, Tehran is seeking an end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, access to billions of dollars in oil revenues, waivers on crude exports, a lifting of a U.S. blockade on its ports, and continued leverage over the Strait of Hormuz.<\/div>\n<div>Trump is under pressure to reopen the strait and curb \u2060U.S. fuel \u200bprices while not making concessions to Iran.<\/div>\n<div>Iran&#8217;s Revolutionary Guards said on Tuesday that 24 \u200bvessels had transited the strait in the past 24 hours after obtaining permission from the Guards&#8217; navy.<\/div>\n<div>Iran threatened on Monday to expand its blockade to the Bab El Mandeb Strait, another \u200bchokepoint at the mouth of the Red Sea, if Israel resumed strikes on Beirut.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=767\">California votes in primary to pick new governor, and maybe tip balance in Congress<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=765\">US lawmakers to grill Rubio, as Iran war enters fourth month<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/reliablemovingcrews.com\/?p=762\">A strong El Nino may be imminent.
