June 2 (Reuters) – Marvell Technology’s (MRVL.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> shares surged more than 25% on Tuesday \u200bafter Nvidia’s (NVDA.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> CEO Jensen Huang called the \u200cchipmaker the next “trillion-dollar company.”<\/div>\n
Huang and Marvell CEO Matt Murphy<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> were speaking at the Computex week in Taipei \u200bon Tuesday.<\/div>\n
Marvell’s shares were last up 22.5% \u200bat a record high, giving the company a \u2060market capitalization of $234 billion, far below the one-trillion mark \u200bthat Huang touted.<\/div>\n
Nvidia invested $2 billion in Marvell earlier this \u200byear, as part of its efforts to make it easier for customers to use the custom artificial intelligence \u200bchips that the smaller company designs with \u200bNvidia’s networking gear and central processors.<\/div>\n
Marvell last week forecast that \u200cits \u2060custom chips business would surpass $10 billion in revenue in fiscal 2029, as cloud companies expand AI data centers.<\/div>\n
The surge in AI adoption \u200bhas fueled \u200bdemand for \u2060specialized chips, which along with Marvell’s interconnect technologies, play a critical \u200brole in advanced data centers by \u200blinking \u2060thousands of processors used to train and run AI models.<\/div>\n
Marvell looked set to add more than $45 billion in \u2060market \u200bcapitalization if gains hold. \u200bNvidia (NVDA.O)<\/svg>, opens new tab<\/span> shares climbed 3.2%.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
